Osteoporosis yang Disebabkan oleh Hipertiroid

Abstract

Osteoporosis adalah penyakit tulang yang ditandai dengan densitas mineral tulang yang rendah, mikroarsitektur jaringan tulang yang rusak sehingga berdampak pada kejadian patah tulang. Sekitar 200 juta wanita di dunia menderita osteoporosis dengan prevalensi osteoporosis tertinggi berturut-turut terjadi di benua Afrika (39,5%), Eropa (18,6%), Asia (16,7%), Australia (13,5%), dan Amerika (12,4%). Menurut Perhimpunan Osteoporosis Indonesia (PEROSI) sekitar 41,8% pria dan 90% wanita menderita osteoporosis. Sedangkan menurut WHO, 28,8% pria dan 32,3% wanita mengalami osteoporosis. Salah satu penyakit yang menyebabkan osteoporosis adalah hipertiroid, di mana sekitar 300 juta orang di dunia dilaporkan menderita kelainan tiroid, bahkan lebih dari setengahnya tidak menyadari hal tersebut. Tujuan: Penulisan artikel ini bertujuan untuk menambah pengetahuan tentang risiko terjadinya osteoporosis yang disebabkan oleh hipertiroid sehingga dapat memberi perhatian khusus pada individu yang mengalami hipertiroid guna mengurangi risiko terjadinya patah tulang dan meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien. Metode: tinjauan pustaka. Hasil: osteoporosis dapat disebabkan oleh hipertiroid karena adanya pemendekan siklus remodeling tulang dan pergantian tulang yang semakin cepat. Kesimpulan: seseorang yang mengalami hipertiroid disarankan untuk melakukan deteksi dini terkait osteoporosis.
